The Denver Broncos officially have a new third-string quarterback.
After agreeing to terms on a one-year deal with Sam Ehlinger on Monday, the Broncos officially announced the signing on Wednesday.
Denver brought in Ehlinger after losing Zach Wilson to the Miami Dolphins during NFL free agency. Wilson served as the team's No. 3 quarterback last season behind starter Bo Nix and primary backup Jarrett Stidham.
The Broncos carried all three QBs -- Nix, Stidham and Wilson -- on their active roster last fall, but it remains to be seen if Ehlinger will fill the QB3 role from the 53-man roster or from the practice squad in 2025.
Ehlinger (6-2, 225 pounds) completed 63.4% of his passes for 573 yards with three touchdowns against three interceptions in three fill-in starts (0-3) with the Indianapolis Colts. He originally entered the league as a sixth-round pick out of Texas in 2021.
After signing Ehlinger, Denver now has 69 players on its offseason roster.
