Sean McVay isn't sure if Matthew Stafford has signed his new contract yet

The Los Angeles Rams avoided a quarterback headache in February when they got a deal done with Matthew Stafford, keeping him for another year as their starting quarterback. The contract was agreed to on Feb. 28 but more than a month later, it’s unclear if Stafford has officially signed on the dotted line.

Sean McVay said on “PFT Live” Monday that he’s not sure if Stafford has signed the contract yet, but the Rams just sent it to him and his agent this week. It’s not that there are any holdups or issues. It’s merely semantics, McVay says.

“I know this: We sent it to Jimmy Sexton this week and so I think it’s just semantics,” he said. “I don’t know if they’ve officially signed that or not but unless he has a change of heart, semantically, it is done.”

Because the contract hasn’t been signed yet, the details of the deal haven’t been released. We know it will be a raise from the $27 million Stafford was set to make in 2025, but it’s unclear how much more he will earn.

Until it’s filed with the NFL, we’ll have to wait for further clarity on how much the Rams are paying Stafford for one more year.
