Apr. 4—MISSOULA — Olivia Gibbons went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs, including a 2-run single during the fifth inning as Glacier handed Missoula Big Sky their first loss of the season 8-5 Thursday.
Gibbons' single capped off a 5-run fifth inning for the Wolfpack (3-0) and extended their lead to 7-1.
In the fourth inning, Gibbons drove in Cazz Rankosky on a single to left to put Glacier ahead for good, 2-1.
Olivia Warriner also picked up a pair of hits and drove in two runs, and she got the Wolfpack on the board in the second with a single to left field that brought in Ava Grady. She also singled during the fifth, bringing in Kaydee Walcheck and starting the damage in the frame.
Hayden Weaver, Hailey Nicoson and Sadie McGuinn all homered for the Eagles (4-1) in the final two innings, but Gibbons stopped the comeback attempt as she retired the final two batters in a relief appearance.
Warriner started and went 6 1-3 innings in the circle for the Wolfpack, she allowed six hits and fanned four.
Rankosky went 3-for-4 at the plate and scored a pair of runs.
Briella Wilson started for Big Sky and went 4 1-3 innings, striking out two. Sara Bjornson took over in the fifth, allowing just one run on three hits.
Glacier is back on the diamond Friday at home for a pair of games against Helena and Helena Capital, starting at noon.
