Although Pittsburgh Steelers GM Omar Khan stated that the team would like to keep both the newly acquired DK Metcalf and George Pickens, Ben Roethlisberger isn't completely ruling out a trade.
Spencer Te'o, the co-host of Big Ben's podcast—Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger—started the speculation surrounding Pickens’ future, stating that the acquisition and extension of Metcalf could “mean the end of George.”
Roethlisberger followed it up with a relatively similar take, alluding to the idea that the Pittsburgh Steelers may attempt to regain lost draft capital by trading Pickens:
"I thought so too—and I wouldn't say that's necessarily over yet," Big Ben agreed. "They lost a second-round pick for [the Metcalf trade]. A second-round pick is a big pick. Could they get that second-round back with George? I don't know that people would give a second for George."
Roethlisberger added that he could see the trade happening, though not for the same return the Steelers gave up for Metcalf:
"I think it could happen—but I think it's more like a [third-round pick]."
He concluded the speculation by acknowledging that, although it's unlikely, he could still see Pickens being dealt during the 2025 NFL Draft—despite wanting to see both Pickens and Metcalf on the field together.
