Baseball America unveils projected field of 64: Is Clemson a top eight national seed?

Clemson baseball has gotten off to another strong start in 2025.

Erik Bakich's Tigers are currently 25-8 overall after holding on for a 10-8 win over Georgia Southern in midweek play Tuesday. They're 6-3 in conference play, having won each of their first three ACC weekend series against Notre Dame, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech after a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over the Yellow Jackets Saturday night to clinch the series.

Clemson is ranked No. 7 in this week's USA TODAY Sports Baseball Coaches Poll but fell two spots from No. 5 following an 18-2 blowout loss in Game 1 of last Saturday's doubleheader in Atlanta and an 8-2 loss to Coastal Carolina earlier that week.

On Wednesday, Baseball America unveiled its new Field of 64 projections for the 2025 NCAA Tournament. The Tigers were a projected No. 7 national seed, one seed below ACC rival Florida State (23-4) and one seed ahead of the Alabama Crimson Tide (26-4).

Baseball America's projected top five overall seeds are all SEC teams: the No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers (27-2 overall), followed by the Arkansas Razorbacks (No. 2, 27-3 overall), Texas Longhorns (No. 3, 23-4), Georgia Bulldogs (No. 4, 29-2) and LSU Tigers (No. 5, 27-3).

Finishing with a top eight national seed would mean that Clemson would also host a best-of-three Super Regional, if the Tigers advance past their four-team on-site regional.

Baseball America currently projects the Tigers to host the Arizona State Sun Devils, as well as Northeastern from the CAA, and East Tennessee State from the Southern Conference in a four-team, double-elimination Clemson Regional.

The official field of 64 bracket that will make up the 2025 NCAA Baseball Tournament will be unveiled Monday, May 26 at 11 a.m. CT. The full bracket unveiling will be televised on ESPN2 or ESPNU. On-site regionals begin the following Friday, May 30.

A year ago, Clemson advanced to the Super Regional round where they fell to the Florida Gators. Clemson's last trip to the College World Series in Omaha was back in 2010.
