Dani Olmo suffered an adductor injury in Barcelona’s first game right after the international break against Osasuna, which was expected to put him out on the sidelines for three weeks.
But the 26-year-old attacking midfielder’s progress has been going better than expected and he already did part of the group training with the rest of the group on Thursday.
Olmo wants to return against Dortmund
Earlier reports suggested that Olmo will not be involved against Leganes this weekend and will likely not be risked in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg vs Borussia Dortmund given that Barcelona had secured a handsome 4-0 win earlier this week.
However, now, according to Javi Miguel of AS, Olmo’s return to action remains on track for Tuesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg in Dortmund, despite Barcelona’s commanding 4–0 first-leg victory.
Olmo is in the final stages of his recovery and has already participated in part of Thursday’s session with the team. As such, there is a real possibility that he could be cleared to play and included in the squad travelling to Dortmund for Tuesday’s match.
Even the dominant result in the first leg has not altered the plan. Olmo is said to be feeling very good physically and is eager to return to help the team.
“He is very keen to get back on the pitch,” sources within the dressing room confirmed.
The Dortmund clash holds special motivation for him, having spent several seasons in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig.
As such, barring any last-minute setbacks, Olmo is expected to be part of the travelling squad heading to Germany on Monday.
