Arkansas State is set to hire Alabama assistant Ryan Pannone as its next head basketball coach.
Pannone joined Alabama's basketball program for the 2023-24 season after working as an assistant with the New Orleans Pelicans. His career includes experience with international professional teams and head coaching stints in the NBA G League with the Erie BayHawks and Birmingham Squadron.
During his time at Alabama, Pannone was influential in managing the team's offense. Under his guidance, Alabama's offense set new program records, achieving a total of 3,335 points, an average of 90.1 points per game, and sinking 413 three-pointers in the 2023-24 season.
Pannone will succeed Bryan Hodgson, another former Alabama assistant, who left Arkansas State for the head coaching position at South Florida.
Pannone is the fifth assistant from Nate Oats' tenure at Alabama to transition to a head coaching role.
