The Arizona Cardinals have a connection to one of the prospects in the NFL draft. Nore Dame cornerback Benjamin Morrison is from Arizona, having attended high school at Brophy in Phoenix. But that doesn't connect him to the Cardinals.
It is his father.
His father, Darryl Morrison, played four seasons in the NFL as a safety for the Washington Redskins and now is a team chaplain for the Cardinals.
Morrison is a promising cornerback prospect.
He missed much of his final season at Notre Dame with a hip labrum tear. He played three seasons for Notre Dame. He is six feet tall and 193 pounds. He is a ballhawk. While he did not have an interception and broke up four passes in six games before his injury in 2024, in the two previous seasons, he had nine interceptions, including six as a freshman, and 14 pass breakups.
If it weren't for the injury, he probably would have been considered a first-round talent.
As it stands, he could be drafted on Day 2. His situation is not too different than Cardinals cornerback Garrett Williams. The Cardinals drafted him in the third round in 2023 when he was coming off a torn ACL.
Perhaps the Cardinals can pull off another draft steal with a local kid.
