A nesting Canadian goose at Wrigley Field is officially becoming a Cubs bleacher bum

Animals invading sporting events is nothing new, and we here at For The Win love when it happens. But our latest example is a bit more unexpected when the usual incidents are more like an alligator on a golf course, a cat on a soccer field, a squirrel on a football field or a dog in the outfield.

Either way, most of these animal moments are delightful interruptions — although Saturday's goose at Wrigley Field was a bit more peculiar than anything.

At Saturday's Chicago Cubs' home game against the San Diego Padres, a section at Wrigley Field was closed because a Canadian goose made a nest in the bleachers, as Block Club Chicago reported.

Per Block Club Chicago:

A Canada goose took up residence in a planter box in deep centerfield, forcing the Cubs to block off a section of bleacher seats Saturday to keep the peace.

The goose made a nest under the famed centerfield scoreboard’s right side. Its black and white head poked out over the evergreens in the concrete planter, surveying the 35,000 fans on hand.

Dozens of bleacher seats were cordoned off with stanchions, signs and ballpark operations staff assigned to keep guard.

The goose was reportedly also there during Friday's home opener against the Padres, but the "Geesekeeper Patrol" wasn't activated until Saturday, Block Club Chicago noted. And the Cubs won on both Friday and Saturday — extending their win streak to five games — so maybe this is a lucky goose hanging out at Wrigley.
