6 players the Steelers should avoid in the 2025 NFL draft

Over the course of the next few weeks, we are going to dedicate a lot of energy talking about the players the Pittsburgh Steelers should take in the 2025 NFL draft.

QB Tyler Shough - Louisville

The hype around Shough feels largely manufactured by the media as opposed to warranted by film. I've seen him going as high as the third round and there just doesn't feel like his play is on a level that shows his ceiling is an NFL starter.

QB Kyle McCord - Syracuse

McCord has some solid arm talent but in this quarterback group, not having any plus athleticism really hurts his case.

RB Cam Skattebo - Arizona State

If the Steelers want to upgrade their run game, taking Skatteboo isn't how you do it. Pittsburgh lost Najee Harris to free agency and they need to replace him with a dynamic player with speed and acceleration, not another plodder like Skattebo.

WR Jaylin Noel - Iowa State

On the right team, Noel is going to be a rock-solid player. But he's a slot receiver in the NFL and the Steelers already have Roman Wilson and Calvin Austin in that role.

DT Derrick Harmon - Oregon

We love Harmon as a prospect but not for the Steelers. Pittsburgh doesn't need a defensive lineman whose forte' is rushing the passer. If the Steelers are going to spend a first-round pick on a defensive tackle, it has to be a massive interior lineman who can stuff the run.

CB Jahdae Barron - Texas

We've seen mock drafts where Barron is coming off the board in the top half of the first round. This is wild to us because I don't see any way Barron is a regular starter on the outside and you just don't spend a pick that high on a slot cornerback.
