Free agency has been quiet for the Pittsburgh Steelers. After pulling off a blockbuster trade for DK Metcalf just before the start of free agency, the team has lost more talent than they gained. However, there are still some players out there on the market who can come in and help the Steelers over the guys they already have. Here are our top six free agents still on the market the Steelers should consider.
1 - CB Asante Samuel Jr.
Samuel missed much of 2024 with a shoulder injury but the skills are still there. The Steelers signed Darius Slay to sign on the outside opposite Joey Porter Jr. but Samuel would absolutely solidify the slot corner spot.
2 - WR Keenan Allen
Signing a player like Allen doesn't mean anything about the future of George Pickens but Allen is a steady veteran presence who is desperately needed on this depth chart no matter who is playing quarterback.
3 - RB J.K. Dobbins
After the Los Angeles Chargers signed Najee Harris, the Steelers could turn around and sign J.K. Dobbins from the Chargers. This wouldn't eliminate running back as a draft need but it would take some heat off Jaylen Warren.
4 - G Dalton Risner
Risner is as good of a person as he is football player and his experience would be welcome on the Steelers offensive line.
5 - QB Carson Wentz
No one is saying Wentz would replace Aaron Rodgers. Or even Mason Rudolph. However, Wentz would be a nice addition for depth and leadership, especially if the Steelers draft a rookie.
6 - DT Jordan Phillips
Phillips is probably going to end up back with the Bills but If I were the Steelers, I'd throw him an offer and see of the 340-pound mountain of a man wanted to line up next to Cam Heyward and Keeanu Benton.
