5 things to know about new Eagles offensive guard Kenyon Green
The Eaglesmade a tremendous move that will impact both sides of the football after trading C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans for offensive guard Kenyon Green. The teams are also swapping fifth—and sixth-round picks in 2026.
Green, like Mekhi Becton before him, had an up-and-dowup-and-down Houston. Most importantly, he's entering the last year of his rookie deal at a $2.88 million salary.
With the move now complete, we're looking at five things to know about a potential starter at right guard.
Green is Mekhi Becton
Like Becton last off-season, Green is joining the Eagles with untapped potential after early career struggles. Green started 14 of 15 games as a rookie but was the 77th-highest-graded guard (37.7) out of 77 players in Pro Football Focus rankings that year. Last season, Green was one of the lowest-graded offensive guards in the NFL.
Green was a prep standout
Green grew up in Humble, Texas. He was a five-star recruit coming out of Atascocita High School and originally committed to LSU as a high school sophomore before deciding on the Texas A&M Aggies.
Green hit the ground running
Green played offensive tackle and guard at Texas A&M, starting every game for the Aggies in his career and being a two-time consensus All-American.
Green was supposed to attend LSU
Kenyon was initially offered by and committed to LSU, but then things changed. LSU's coaching staff had a significant shake-up. Jimbo Fisher landed at Texas A&M, and offensive line coach Jim Turner remained part of his staff. Green flipped to Texas A&M.
Green is just hitting his stride
The 6-foot-4, 325-pound Green turned 24 years old on Saturday, March 15. Green was a first-team AP All-America selection in his final season at Texas A&M and should thrive under offensive line coach Jeff Stout land.
