Watch live: White House holds briefing after Biden addresses election results
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is holding a press briefing Thursday afternoon after President Biden addressed the nation following the results of the 2024 election — which did not go in Democrats' favor.
Vice President Harris conceded the election to President-elect Trump on Wednesday, less than a day after he was declared the winner. Biden and Harris both congratulated the GOP nominee on his win and have vowed to ensure a peaceful transfer of power in January.
Biden also extended an invitation to Trump to visit the White House — a ritual Trump did not extend to the president after the 2020 election. The president-elect, however, said he was "looking forward to it," according to his spokesperson.
The briefing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. EST.
