Watch live: White House holds press briefing amid Israel war plan leak
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will brief the press Wednesday afternoon, days after an apparent U.S. intelligence breach related to Israel's plans to strike Iran was unveiled.
The FBI opened an investigation Tuesday into the leak of classified U.S. intelligence documents containing Israel’s potential plans. The Defense Department is conducting a separate probe.
The breach comes as the globe has been bracing for a retaliatory strike on Tehran since Iran fired some 180 ballistic missiles toward Israel on Oct. 1 in response for the killings of top leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah, Iran’s prized proxies.
National security spokesperson John Kirby will join Jean-Pierre.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken is also expected to provide an update Wednesday.
The briefing is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
