You'll face innumerable undead throughout the campaign in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Still, there's one dapper chap who has a morbid fascination with the dearly departed. Perhaps he'll take a liking to the living as well. Here's our guide on how to romance Emmrich in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

How to increase Emmrich's approval
Those who prefer to romance Emmrich in Dragon Age: The Veilguard would do well to remember the following:
- Quest completion - If Emmrich can be part of your three-person squad, then he'll gain an increase to his affinity whenever you complete quests. Of course, his personal quests grant boons, too.
- Necropolis Halls encounters - As a member of the Mourn Watch, Emmrich's knowledge of necromancy is second to none. That's why his approval increases whenever you take out foes in the Necropolis Halls. Moreover, two over-arcing quests--Hauntings and Pinnacle of Its Kind--grant affinity boosts, too. While your targets are in other regions, these quests are still from the Mourn Watch.
- Don't be too freaked out - Emmrich's fascination with the dead can be off-putting, to say the least. Still, you should try to be more mindful of his quirks. Here are some examples:
- Choose positive, friendly, or funny replies whenever it concerns Mannfred, Emmrich's assistant.
- When prompted to speak to spirits, you should do so in a conversational manner.
- Interact with skeletons on sarcophagi so Emmrich can attempt to commune with them.
- Some companions may be disdainful of Emmrich's practice. Encourage them to hash it out with Emmrich.
Emmrich's personal quests
You can expect to tackle Emmrich's personal quests below:
- Walking the Graves
- House of the Dead
- Arrangements
- The Sacrifice of Souls
- Will and Testament/Heir to the Dead
Emmrich's commitment conversation
You can be firmly committed to your necromancer buddy during a quest called Arrangements. Your goal is to look for flowers in the Necropolis Gardens. Afterward, Emmrich brings you to the graves of his parents. Choose these replies:
- Positive: "Uh, hello." / "Pleasure to meet you."
- Commitment: "Never lonely."
Emmrich will put on the charm. He and Rook will then be in a committed relationship, which means no more "heart" replies when talking to other companions.
