Wisconsin hires new women’s basketball head coach
Wisconsin is hiring Robin Pingeton as its new women's basketball head coach, according to a news release on Tuesday.
The veteran coach joins the Badgers after 15 years at Missouri. She went 250-218 during that time, including four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances from 2015-19.
Pingeton announced her decision to resign from Missouri in late February of this year, as the Tigers were 13-16 overall and 2-12 in SEC play, tied for last place in the conference. Her last winning season with the program came in 2022-23 -- an 18-14 finish. Her only 20-plus-win seasons with the Tigers were from 2015-19, the streak of four consecutive tournament appearances.
Pingeton's overall head coaching record is 394-299. She previously led Illinois State from 2003-10, winning three Missouri Valley Conference titles and reaching two NCAA Tournaments in that time.
She takes over a Wisconsin women's basketball program that hasn't made the tournament or won 20 games since 2010. It has just one winning season in that time -- a 16-15 2010-11 campaign. The head coaching job became vacant earlier this month when Marisa Moseley announced her resignation. The Badgers were just 47-75 in four seasons under Moseley, including a 13-17 finish to 2024-25.
We’d like to welcome Robin Pingeton as the new head coach of Wisconsin Women’s Basketball!

Pingeton will be tasked with a top-down roster rebuild after the Badgers lost each of their top contributors to either graduation or the transfer portal. First-Team All-Big Ten forward Serah Williams headlines that list of impactful departures.
This marks yet another critical hire for AD Chris McIntosh and Wisconsin athletics. His hires have seen mixed results to date. That includes the football program struggling in its first two years under Luke Fickell, McIntosh's first major hire, and the men's hockey program experiencing a resurgent first season under new coach Mike Hastings before a regression in 2024-25.
