Apr. 4—TROY — Avery Caton doubled and tripled for Whitefish, driving in three runs as the Bulldogs earned a 16-0 victory over Troy in the high school baseball season opener for both squads Thursday.
Christian Schwaderer also grabbed a pair of hits and drove in three runs as Whitefish scored multiple runs in all three innings before the game ended due to the run rule. Luke Dalen also picked up three RBIs.
Schwaderer threw two innings on the mound for the Bulldogs, striking out six batters. Sam Akey tossed one scoreless inning, fanning one. Neither pitcher allowed a hit.
Whitefish travels to take on rival Columbia Falls Friday at 6 p.m.
