What to know for the 2025 Visalia Rawhide season

It's officially baseball season.

The Visalia Rawhide open their 2025 campaign on April 4 when they host Inland Empire for opening day at Valley Strong Ballpark. First pitch is 7 p.m.

The Rawhide are the Single-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. They will play 66 home games this season.

Here are some things fans should know about Rawhide this season:

Year of the Oak

The Rawhide are celebrating 80 years of pro baseball in Visalia with “Year of the Oak.”  

Every Thursday, the Rawhide will play as the Oaks. All fans who wear Oaks gear will receive a free ticket. Professional baseball was first played in Visalia in 1946.

Familiar face

Dee Garner returns for his third season as the Rawhide manager. He is in his 10th campaign with the Diamondbacks. In 2024, he directed Visalia to a California League Second Half Southern Division Championship.

The Rawhide coaching staff also includes Josh Goossen-Brown (pitching coach), Luis Sumoza (hitting coach), Gift Ngoepe (bench coach). Hannah Boutwell is in her first season as the Rawhide's head athletic trainer and Mike Vaca is the club's strength and conditioning coach.

Top promotions

Jersey giveaways: The Rawhide have 11 jersey giveaways featuring different eras of Visalia baseball history. The first jersey giveaway of the year is on opening day. The Rawhide will be giving away a 1946 Visalia Cubs replica jersey to the first 350 fans.

Bobblehead giveaways: The Rawhide will be giving away five bobbleheads to the first 500 fans throughout the season: Max Scherzer (April 19), Sugar Skill Lowrider (May 3), Paul Goldschmidt (May 10), Chris "Shooter McGavin" McDonald (July 12) and Jake Haener (Aug. 2).

Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular: The Rawhide will be playing Rancho Cucamonga for their Independence Day Celebration, followed by a postgame fireworks show.

Shooter night: McDonald, the “Happy Gilmore” actor, will make an appearance on July 12 at Valley Strong Ballpark.

Clear bag policy

The Rawhide are introducing a new clear bag policy for the 2025 season.

All bags entering Valley Strong Ballpark must be transparent with the exception of small clutches (8" x 5" or smaller), diaper bags and other medical bags.

Bags not approved for stadium entry include backpacks, purses, lunch bags, grocery bags, camera bags, duffle bags and drawstring bags.
