BOSTON -- The MLB-branded '2025' logo is painted near home plate. The grounds crew, hoses in hand, is out treating the field. Even the electronic scoreboards have 'America's Most Beloved Ballpark' already postered on them.
You can just feel it in the air. Opening Day at Fenway Park is near.
On Friday afternoon, the Red Sox will host the St. Louis Cardinals in the home-opener at 2:10 p.m. Boston starts the home schedule after a sub-.500 road trip with stops at Texas and Baltimore.
Before fans shuffle in to their seats at Fenway, the Red Sox debuted a new menu of concessions and announced a series of upcoming promotions on Wednesday.
What to expect on Red Sox Opening Day
The Red Sox will play the St. Louis Cardinals in the home-opener on Friday at 2:10 p.m. It marks the 114th season at Fenway Park.
Prior to the game, members of the 1975 team will take part in a ceremony to honor Red Sox Hall-of-Fame pitcher Luis Tiant, who died in October at age 83.
Gates will open at 12:10 p.m., two hours before the game.
The Red Sox are vying to snap a streak of four straight losses in the home-opener, dating back to 2021.
New concessions at Fenway Park
On Wednesday, the Red Sox culinary staff unveiled a new spread of concessions coming to Fenway Park this season.
"There are recipes, research and development for all of these products to see what the chefs can come up with," Red Sox executive chef Ron Abell said.
Among the new additions:
- 'Krispy Krunchy Chicken' tenders and sandwiches.
- New 'Cowboy Up!' burger — which is topped with brisket, bacon, onion rings and BBQ sauce.
- Grilled chicken sandwich with pimento cheese and sweet-and-spicy coleslaw on a pretzel roll.
- A selection of soups, including lobster bisque, clam chowder, chicken noodle and tomato veggie soups in bread bowls, all served at the Fenway Soup Shack. The lobster comes from Luke's Lobster, a Maine-based sponsor of the Red Sox.
- 'PIG MAC' sandwich, featuring mac and cheese, pulled pork and bacon strips on sourdough bread.
- 'Green Monster' fries -- a footlong serving of Cavendish Farms French fries loaded with nacho cheese, chili, sour cream and jalapeños.
