What does the New Orleans Saints' three-year contract with Isaac Yiadom look like?
The New Orleans Saints have brought back a couple of players that took some time away from the team this offseason.
One of the more interesting players in that mold is cornerback Isaac Yiadom. They signed him to a three-year, $9 million deal to have him provide some quality depth.
Yiadom was signed to the Saints practice squad back in 2022 after he was cut by the Houston Texans. New Orleans seemed to fit and he came back for the 2023 season, that ended up being the best year of his career as he had 37 tackles, one interception and 14 passes broken up. He jumped to the San Francisco 49ers last year and did not have much success. Now, he comes back to the Saints to provide a couple of years of backup cornerback play.
These are the details of the contract, as shown by the experts over at OverThe Cap:
2025 salary cap hit
This is where the cap maneuvering really shows for New Orleans. They were able to actually save money for this season by bringing him back this year. He was set to have a higher dead money hit than his actual cap hit this year, due to the contract being back loaded and the presence of more void years.
He has a base salary of just $1,260,000 this season. His prorated salary bonus will be $700,000 for all three seasons. His total cap hit for 2025 is at $1,960,000. This is the only fully guaranteed year of the contract.
2026 salary cap hit
His base salary will just up a bit this year to $2,520,000 with the same prorated signing bonus. New this year, though, is a per game roster bonus that will add up to $255,000 at the end of the season. His total cap hit would be $3,475,000.
There is $1,500,000 of his salary guaranteed, which makes cutting him more confusing but not impossible. Cutting him pre-June 1 would save $575,000. After June 1, that jumps to $1,275,000.
2027 salary cap hit
His base salary will rise again slightly up to $2,610,000. The prorated signing bonus and per game roster bonus remains the same. That makes his total cap hit $3,565,000.
This season is not at all guaranteed, making the signing bonus the only thing on the books. He becomes a cap casualty at this time with $2,865,000 in cap savings.
