Vote now: Who should be The Star Press IU Health Boys Basketball Player of the Year?
With Delta, Monroe Central and Wapahani all falling in semi-states over the weekend, the 2024-25 boys basketball season is officially over for Muncie-area teams.
With the season in the books, it is now time to vote for The Star Press Boys Basketball Player of the Year, presented by IU Health.
This is the fan vote portion of the process. The Star Press will release its selections for boys and girls Players of the Year, plus our selections for All-Area teams, in the near future.
Please vote using the poll found by scrolling to the bottom of this page. Votes submitted via email will not be counted. The poll will remain open until Friday, March 28, at noon ET.
Here are the nominees for The Star Press boys basketball Player of the Year, in alphabetical order:
Gage Baker, Blackford
Baker led Blackford to a 14-10 record and a first-place finish in the Central Indiana Conference. The senior averaged 15.5 points, 4.8 rebounds. 2.6 assists, 2.3 steals and 0.7 blocks.
Jabin Barnes, Yorktown
Barnes got it done on both ends of the floor for Yorktown. The junior averaged a team-high nine points and five rebounds per game. He shot 54% from the floor and was the Tigers' top defender.
Camden Bell, Wapahani
Bell led Wapahani to a 26-2 record and the Raiders' third-straight regional title. The junior averaged 17.8 PPG and shot 51% from 3-point range. Bell hit 1,000 career points in Wapahani's final game, a loss to Gary 21st Century in semi-states.
Tyler Bennett, Muncie Burris
Bennett led the Owls with 10.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.
Brody Clifford, Cowan
Clifford put together an impressive sophomore campaign, leading the Blackhawks with 12.2 PPG.
Aiden Coffey, Shenandoah
Coffey emerged as one of the top volume shooters in the state in 2024-25. The junior led Shenandoah with 15.5 PPG and shot 45% from 3-point range.
Easton Foster, Monroe Central
Foster led Monroe Central to its first regional title in 15 years. The senior averaged 21.5 PPG on 63% field goal shooting. He also led the Golden Bears in each of the other four major statistical categories, averaging 10.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.2 steals and 3.2 blocks. Foster became a career 1,000 point scorer on Jan. 25.
Carter Fraze, Winchester Community
Fraze led the Golden Falcons with 11.3 PPG in his senior season. He received all-conference recognition from the Tri-Eastern Conference.
Jordan Furney, Delta
Furney helped Delta to its third consecutive regional title. The senior averaged 12.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.1 steals and 0.8 blocks, leading the team in all five stats except for rebounds.
Tucker Griffin, Jay County
Griffin led the Patriots in scoring with 12.1 points per game and added 4.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
Jaxson Johnson, Muncie Central
Johnson led the Bearcats in scoring with 11.2 PPG. The freshman scored 268 total points this season, the second-most ever recorded by a Muncie Central freshman.
Josiah Love, Wes-Del
Love was the top scorer in the area with a 23.7 PPG average. The senior shot 51% from the floor and 45% from 3-point range. Love became Wes-Del's all-time career scoring leader on senior night and finished his career with 1,318 career points.
Lamar Schwartz, Union (Modoc)
Schwartz averaged 15.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.8 blocks per game. The sophomore led the Rockets in each major stat except for steals.
Hunter Suchyna, Daleville
Suchyna led the Broncos to their first sectional title in 16 years. After sitting out the first handful of games due to transfer eligibility rules, Suchyna stepped in and amped up the Daleville offense. He averaged 20.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.4 steals per game.
Brayden Swoveland, Blue River Valley
Swoveland impressed as a sophomore, earning all-conference recognition from the Mid-Eastern Conference.
Landon Thompson, New Castle
After suffering a gruesome leg injury last season, Thompson returned at full strength for New Castle as the Trojans' top player. He averaged 16.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.5 blocks per game, leading the team in every stat except for assists.
