Villains cruise past Carver
The Bishop McGuinness varsity baseball team scored early and often in a 23-1 Northwest Piedmont 1-A win over Carver on Friday night.
The Villains plated five runs in the first inning and scored four in the second inning. Bishop took full advantage of walks and errors in the fifth inning and scored 14 more runs. The game was called after three innings on the 15-run rule.
Bishop’s Jack Lambeth pitched the first inning and got the win. Will Valente pitched the second inning, and Anderson Lynch closed out the game.
The Yellowjackets were limited to only one hit.
Lambeth was 1-for-1 at the plate with four RBIs, one run scored and two walks. Max Aquilar was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI. Spencer Richard was 2-for-3 with one run scored and two walks. James Rashford was 2-for-4 with four runs scored, two RBIs and a stolen base.
The Villains, who started out their season 0-5, are now 5-6 overall and 2-0 in NWP 1-A play. Bishop McGuinness will plays away on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in a NWP 1-A conference game against Millenium Charter.
