UND football picks up commitment from 6-foot-7 tackle from Melrose

Apr. 5—GRAND FORKS — The UND offensive line projects to be the strength of the 2025 Fighting Hawks.

Early in the 2026 recruiting class, UND appears to be angling to make sure that position group remains a strength in the future.

UND recently landed a commitment from 6-foot-7, 275-pound offensive tackle Brady Goihl of Melrose, Minn., who becomes the third of five UND commits so far to stand at 6-7.

"I liked everything about the visit when I went there for Junior Day," Goihl said. "They gave me a great opportunity, and it felt like home for me. There weren't any bad vibes about North Dakota. Their coaches made me feel like part of a family."

Melrose is located between Alexandria and St. Cloud. The Dutchmen play in Section 6AAA.

Goihl was a backup offensive lineman as a freshman on the varsity, then started two ways as a sophomore at left tackle and defensive end.

With a new offense and new coach as as junior, Goihl moved to left guard.

Goihl also plays baseball and basketball and led the Melrose basketball team in scoring this winter at 14.0 points per game.

"I'm just excited for the opportunity and ready to keep working to make myself better," Goihl said. "I'm going to stay humble and keep working to get better."
