“The truth is” – Marc Cucurella gives interesting answer when asked about Barcelona return
Marc Cucurella has been speaking about his time at Chelsea and whether he ever thinks about returning to Barcelona.
Cucurella is once again having an outstanding season for the Blues, and he’s been one of the top performers with Enzo Maresca praising his intelligence.
The 26-year-old is in with a strong chance of being named Chelsea’s player of the year, although Jason Cundy puts him second behind Moises Caicedo.
Cucurella not thinking about Barcelona
Chelsea paid £62m to sign the Spain international from Brighton in the summer of 2022, but Cucurella endured a difficult start to life at Stamford Bridge.
He was booed by supporters during his first season, but his transformation is quite something and he’s now a firm fan favourite and one of the most important players.
Cucurella has added goals to his game this season and is now a threat in both boxes, recently scoring in back to back Premier League games against Southampton and Leicester.
The Spaniard is currently on international duty and was asked whether he thinks about returning to Barcelona where he started his career.
“The truth is, I’m not thinking about it right now, I mean, I’m fine where I am and all, I’m enjoying the moment,” he said as quoted by Sport.
“The truth is, I think they’re happier than I am in London. I really like living there and they’re very comfortable, and time is a bit of a killer, but I think for a few years’ experience.
“I mean, never say never, right? I don’t think I’d stay there forever, but for a few more years, well, I’m very happy.”
Cucurella is one of if not the best left back in the Premier League currently, and it’s great to hear he’s happy at the club, but the Blues could do with signing a back-up as he’s currently the only natural left back in the squad.
