The month of April means heavy content with the NFL draft, whether it is player rankings or mock drafts. NFL Media's Daniel Jeremiah just released the fourth iteration of his top 50 draft prospect rankings. With these rankings, we can see the relative amount of talent the Arizona Cardinals will be able to choose from with their first two picks of the draft, selections No. 16 and No. 47.
Here is a positional breakdown of Jeremiah's rankings, at least in terms of numbers of players at each position:
- Quarterback: 3
- Running back: 5
- Wide receiver: 5 (including Travis Hunter)
- Tight end: 4
- Offensive tackle: 6
- Interior offensive line: 3
- Defensive tackle: 5
- EDGE: 9
- Linebacker: 2
- Cornerback: 7 (including Travis Hunter)
- Safety: 2
Probably the only two positions the Cardinals won't consider in the first and second rounds are quarterback and running back, while tight end and safety are more on the unlikely scale.
Based on Jeremiah's rankings, it does show that, at least in terms of top talent, it is rich in tackles, pass rushers and cornerbacks.
