NFL mock drafts continue to put some interesting names with the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round.
Marshall defensive end Mike Green is one of those and like other prospects linked to the team, there's only so much to say about him and the fit at this point in the process.
But what actual coaches have to say about the NFL draft prospects is pretty interesting.
The Athletic's Bruce Feldman just issued a mock draft that includes notes from coaches and has the Bengals taking Green at No. 17. In the writeup, Feldman spoke with a "Power 5 O-line coach" about Green.
“When you watched the tape, we’d bring him up a lot,” the coach said. “What is this guy doing at Marshall? I thought he was a real guy. He had some shake to him and some edge. Really good with his hands, is twitchy, and he knows what he is. He used his speed, and then he’d go speed-counter, and then he could go speed to power. He is a natural edge guy and natural pass rusher.”
As Feldman noted, off-field questions have hovered around Green's draft stock so far. But from an on-field standpoint, the fact he appeared to be way out of his league while dominating at Marshall makes him an intriguing, high-upside player sure to rank nicely on the Bengals' draft board.
Those Bengals could easily go with the top edge rusher on the board at No. 17 given the Trey Hendrickson drama. Otherwise, they're strictly reliant on the recently re-signed Joseph Ossai and hoping that former first-rounder Myles Murphy can avoid the bust label.
