The Lions sign WR Tim Patrick a day after he pleads to return to Detroit
Back by popular demand, including his own...
The Lions heeded the social media plea of wide receiver Tim Patrick and re-signed the veteran to a one-year deal on Friday. Terms are undisclosed, but the Lions confirmed the signing by announcing it on their own social media channels. Some reports indicate the deal is worth as much as $4 million, which likely means incentives are involved much in the way they are for EDGE Marcus Davenport.
Patrick, 31, played the role of big wideout in Detroit's offense in 2024 after being plucked from the Denver Broncos scrap heap. He quickly worked his way from the practice squad to the active roster. In 16 games, including nine starts, Patrick caught 33 of the 44 passes thrown his way, netting 394 yards and three touchdowns.
His size makes Patrick stand out in Detroit's wide receiving corps. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 212 pounds, he's the only wideout taller than 6-1. Injuries have dogged Patrick throughout his career; he missed two full seasons (2022 and 2023) and most of another (2019) with separate injuries. However, he stayed healthy and productive in Detroit in 2024 and the Lions are hoping he can do the same in 2025.
