It's been a long time since the Detroit Lions played outside the United States. With visions of playing in Germany still burning strong for the 2026 NFL season, the Lions have also added international marketing rights for another country.
During the NFL owners' meetings on Monday, it was announced that the Lions have picked up Brazil as a strategic marketing partner. The Lions and Eagles each added marketing rights with the large South American nation, with whom the Patriots and Dolphins have previous marketing relationships
For Detroit, Brazil becomes the fifth international destination that the Lions now have a marketing relationship with, joining Austria, Canada, Germany and Switzerland. The agreements don't necessarily mean games to be played in the destination, though it raises the likelihood that the Lions will play in those markets to go along with the heightened marketing with the NFL in those countries. The Eagles and Packers played the first-ever regular season game in Sao Paolo in 2024.
