The Texas Longhorns have lost wide receiver Ryan Wingo for at least a portion of spring practice, if not the rest of it. Described as a "minor" hamstring injury, the Texas staff will be cautious with any player that is hurt in practice.
As first reported by Bobby Burton of On Texas Football, the issue doesn't appear to be long-term. The injury also puts a strain on the receiver corps, who are also without DeAndre Moore this spring. Wingo was the only wide receiver or tight end in spring practice that has an official reception.

The 6’2, 214-pounder made a quick impression during his freshman year, with four catches for 70 yards in his debut against Colorado State. He followed that up with a key 55-yard run against Michigan in Ann Arbor. Wingo scored his first TD in Week 3 against UTSA on a 75-yard bomb from Arch Manning.
But as conference play began, Wingo's production dropped. The St. Louis product didn't score another touchdown all season and never had another 50+ yard game again. He finished the season with 29 receptions, 472 yards and two TDs. He also rushed for 100 yards on five carries.
While Wingo should be fine by fall camp, it does create opportunity for some young receivers to step up. Sophomore Parker Livingstone has already become a favored target of Manning's in practice. There should also be more reps for incoming freshman Kaliq Lockett, Jaime Ffrench and Michael Terry III. All are early enrollees.
