Texans extend Pro Bowl DE Danielle Hunter on one-year, $35.6 million deal
The Houston Texans now have the second-highest paid defensive end player in the NFL on their roster.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Texans and defensive end Danielle Hunter have agreed to a one-year, $35.6 million contract extension, keeping him in Houston through 2026. Hunter was entering the second year of his two-year contract signed last offseason following nine seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.
Hunter, 30, lived up to expectations as the team's top pass-rusher. Despite a slow start, the four-time All-Pro managed to total 12 sacks and 17 tackles for loss to go along with 45 tackles and 23 QB hits.
The Pro Bowl defensive end is worth the price after helping Houston secure another postseason victory in the wild-card round. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Only two players pressured the QB on at least 25 percent of their pass rush snaps last season (including playoffs.
Hunter was one. His team, former 2023 Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr. (25.9%) was the other.
