Texans sign fullback Jakob Johnson to one-year deal
Nick Caley is getting a fullback for the Houston Texans' offense.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Texans are signing former New York Giants and New England Patriots fullback Jakob Johnson to a one-year deal. He'll reunite with Caley, who previously served as the tight ends and fullbacks coach for New England during Johnson's tenure.
Over his seven seasons in the NFL, Johnson has 19 career receptions for 105 yards and one touchdown. He has 11 career tackles on special teams when playing on kickoff and punt formations.
Free-agent FB Jakob Johnson is signing a one-year deal with the Houston Texans, per his agent Drew Rosenhaus.

The Texans likely will have him fight for a roster spot to compete for a role on special teams. In the red zone, he could have a potential role as an extra blocker for Joe Mixon and the ground game.
