Steelheads Trade Crone To Admirals
The Idaho Steelheads, along with Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Everett Sheen, announced that forward Hank Crone has been traded to the Norfolk Admirals for future considerations.
Crone, 27, collected 54 points (15G, 39A) in 48 games with Idaho this season. In parts of three ECHL seasons, the Dallas native has tallied 214 points (81-133-214) in 157 career games, spending his first two seasons with the Allen Americans.
In his rookie season (2022-23), Crone finished with 105 points (49-56-105). His 105 points and 49 goals were the highest in the ECHL, earning him league MVP honors. He became the first rookie since the 2011-12 season to lead the ECHL in scoring.
Additionally, Crone was named to the ECHL All-Rookie Team, recognized as Rookie of the Year, and selected to the First All-Star Team.
Later that summer, Crone signed an AHL contract with the Chicago Wolves. Last season with the Americans, he registered 55 points (17-38-55) in 40 games played.
Before turning pro, Crone played four seasons of college hockey split between Boston University (2017-18), the University of Denver (2019-21), and Northern Michigan University (2021-22).
Crone has already signed a contract next season to play with EHC Olten in Switzerland, which may explain the reasoning behind the trade. The Admirals are adding some scoring punch for the stretch run.
Ironically, the Steelheads host Crone’s former team, the Allen Americans, this Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from the Idaho Central Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:10 Pm Mt.
