Southern defeats Fort Hill, 9-6; Moorefield, Keyser, Petersburg and Hampshire play in Bub Riggleman Tournament

CUMBERLAND — Fort Hill out-hit Southern 10-4 and drew one more walk, but the Rams capitalized off the Sentinels' mistakes to win 9-6 on Friday at Washington Middle School.

Fort Hill was charged with five errors, two directly led to Southern runs, while three others put runners on who eventually scored.

Adeline Wilson threw a complete game for the Rams (4-3, 1-2 Western Maryland Athletic Conference), allowing 10 hits, six runs and four walks with six strikeouts.

Emelee Parks led Southern with two hits and an RBI.

Haley Metz went three innings and allowed four hits and two walks.

She was charged with eight runs, but all eight were unearned.

MaeLeigh Plummer pitched the final three innings, only allowing a walk.

All nine of the Rams' runs were unearned toward the Sentinels' (2-7, 2-3 WestMAC) pitchers.

Tatum Bishop, Metz and Nakiah Dunn each recorded two hits for Fort Hill.

The Sentinels host the F-Club Classic Tournament on Saturday at Washington Middle School.

Fort Hill and Allegany each play Clear Spring and Berkeley Springs.

The Sentinels and No. 2 Campers (6-2, 2-0 WestMAC) play each other on Monday at Washington Middle at 4:30 p.m.

Southern travels to Tucker County on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Moorefield, Keyser and Hampshire play in Bub Riggleman Tournament

MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Moorefield hosted the Bub Riggleman Tournament beginning on Friday.

The Yellow Jackets (6-6) played two games on Friday along with No. 4 Keyser, No. 4 Petersburg and Hampshire.

Moorefield routed Hampshire 19-2 in three innings and Williamsport 18-2 in four frames.

Against the Trojans, the Yellow Jackets scored 17 runs in the first inning.

Carlee Haines and Hannah Snyder each hit home runs during the first.

Haines hit a two-run shot while Snyder's went for three runs.

Five Moorefield players recorded multiple hits with the Jackets combining for 14.

Only nine of the 19 runs were earned runs for Hampshire's pitchers.

Against Williamsport, Moorefield scored 11 runs in the fourth.

Haines went deep again, hitting a two-run shot on the first pitch she saw to end the game.

In Hampshire's other game against Lewis County, the Minute Maids combined for 17 hits.

Charly Ashton, Ava Call and Molly McVicker each recorded two hits for the Trojans.

The Trojans (3-8) host Martinsburg for a doubleheader on Monday at 4 p.m.

Keyser defeated Spring Mills 7-6 and Greenbrier West 11-3 on Friday.

Against Spring Mills, Brielle Root sent the opening pitch of the game over the center field fence for a home run.

She finished 3 for 4 with two RBIs while Leighton Johnson earned the win in 6 2/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on two hits and a walk with 12 strikeouts.

Alexis Wagner hit a three-run home run for the Cardinals in the fifth inning that put Spring Mills in front 5-4.

Against Greenbrier West, Root earned the win tossing five innings, allowing three runs on two hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

She went deep for a two-run shot in the second inning.

Edie Bromhal led the Golden Tornado (6-3) going 3 for 3 with two RBIs.

Maddie Fields hit a two-run home run for the Cavaliers in the fifth inning.

Petersburg defeated Hedgesville 9-4 and Lewis County 12-4 on Friday.

Against Hedgesville, Ella Markwell hit a solo shot for the Vikings (7-4) in the fifth inning.

Lexie Brown also hit a solo shot for the Eagles on the first pitch of the bottom of the third.

Five Vikings recorded two hits with Ella Chew leading Petersburg with three RBIs.

Against Lewis County, Addison Kitzmiller and Quenlynn Cole went deep for the Vikings.
