Somerset Tech 14, North Plainfield 8
NORTH PLAINFIELD -- Nina Ricci tripled in three runs and scored on an infield error in the sixth inning as Somerset Tech rallied to regain the lead for good in a Greater Middlesex Conference Silver Division contest.
The Jaguars strung together six consecutive singles in scoring seven times in the second inning, with Delilah Bergman and Alyssa Schuster each contributing a two-run base hit. North Plainfield took a brief lead by scoring five runs in the fifth as Samantha Colon belted a three-run triple and scored on a single by Chloe Rodriguez.
Ricci went 3-for-5 and drove in four runs for Somerset Tech and Sophie Konkle also went 3-for 5 and went the distance for the victory. Colon went 3-for-5 with four RBI for North Plainfield, which dropped from the GMC White Division to the Silver and has not won a divisional contest since joining the conference in 2023.

Highland Park 10, Woodbridge Magnet 9 (8 innings): Ava Kohler went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs, and Melissa Evans notched two hits, a run and two RBIs and Highland Park responded to giving up two runs in the top of the eighth inning by notching three in the bottom of the frame and grab the opening-day win. Diana Richardson chipped in two hits and an RBI for the Owls, who scored a run in the bottom of the sixth and another in the bottom of the seventh to force extra frames. Nicole Chang picked up two hits and three RBIs, while Kiah Parekh added three hits, including a triple, and three runs for Woodbridge Magnet.
Middlesex 12, Carteret 2 (5 innings): Mikayla Chomen went 4-for-4 with a double, home run, two runs and three RBIs, and Bella Durkin singled, doubled and drove in two runs and Middlesex rolled. Julianna Rossi helped out with two hits, a walk, a run and an RBI for the Blue Jays. Kylie Vitelli picked up the five-inning win, allowed two runs on six hits no walks, striking out six. Daniela Portillo singled twice and drove in a run, while Jesse Sendatch triples and drove in a run for the Ramblers.
J.F. Kennedy 16, Piscataway 6 (5 innings): Courtney Paulikas finished with a single, double and home run, two runs and four RBIs, while Mia Moralez went 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs to power J.F. Kennedy. Lorelei Lorentzen pitched in three hits and three runs for the Mustangs, while Paulikas picked up the win, allowing four earned runs on six hits and four walks, striking out six in five innings. Marissa Mikita singled, walked twice and scored three runs for Piscataway, which also got a single and two RBIs from Samantha Venturi.
