Softball: Ronan wins, Libby and Eureka fall

Mar. 30—RONAN — Kaydnce Santos drove in five runs, all in the first inning as Ronan cruised past Browning 18-0 in Northwest A softball.

Santos hit a 3-run homer in the inning and followed it with a 2-run double, the Maidens scored nine runs in the frame.

Ronan followed that outburst with another nine-run inning in the second to take the victory.

Santos also threw two innings in the circle, striking out four. Alexa Youngren added an inning in relief, fanning three. Neither pitcher allowed a hit. The game ended after three innings due to the run rule.

Frenchtown 14, Libby 1

LIBBY — Katelyn Prather doubled and brought in three runs as Frenchtown put up an eight spot in the third inning and downed Libby.

Miley Leishman also doubled, driving in two runs for the Broncs.

Rachel Kosters drove in the lone run for the Loggers, bringing in Peyton Waggoner.

Ryan Lucier threw a complete game for Frenchtown, striking out nine and allowing just two hits.

The game ended after five innings due to the run rule.

Bonners Ferry sweeps Eureka

BONNERS FERRY, Idaho — First they scored 17 runs, then they managed just one hit, and the Eureka Lions lost both ends of a softball doubleheader, 27-17 and 16-0.

The first game featured a combined 24 walks, 16 by Eureka pitchers, and 15 errors. Eureka outhit Bonners Ferry 10-8, made up all of a 13-3 deficit after two innings and then allowed 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The game ended there under the mercy rule.

Leah Tkachyk had three hits, including two doubles, and scored three times for Eureka. Teammate Tessa Seiler had two hits and also scored three runs. The Badgers Ryelle Short drove in five runs and Jennifer Peterson hit a three-run homer.

Hannah Frago hit a 3-run homer in the Badgers' 16-0 win, which lasted three innings. Lily McAtee had Eureka's lone hit.
