Barcelona are in the market for a new attacking signing in the summer. While the plan is to sign a new left-winger, the Catalans are also keeping an eye out for a new striker who can take over from Robert Lewandowski.
Names like Alexander Isak, Rafael Leao, Luis Diaz, and Viktor Gyokeres have been touted as possible targets but might be out of the Catalans’ reach due to their financial situation.
Moise Kean emerges as a surprise target
Now, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t SPORT), Barcelona are keeping a close eye on Moise Kean, who has resurrected his career after leaving Juventus for Fiorentina.
Indeed, the Blaugrana have already made initial inquiries about Kean’s situation. The club sees him as a versatile attacking option, capable of playing both as a central striker and on the left wing, making him an alternative for the aforementioned targets.
After bouncing between PSG, Everton, and Juventus without ever securing a key role, Kean has thrived at Fiorentina, following his €13 million transfer (plus €5 million in variables).
The 25-year-old forward has scored 24 goals in all competitions this season and his performances have now attracted interest from multiple clubs.
Kean has a €52 million release clause, valid from July 1-15 this summer. After that window, any potential deal would require direct negotiations with Fiorentina.
His current salary of €2.2 million per season is considered low for his market value, and he could easily double his wages with a summer move.
If Kean’s price and wage demands fit within Barça’s budget, he could emerge as a serious summer option for the club.
As things stand, though, Barcelona’s transfer activity remains on hold, pending clarity on the club’s financial manoeuvring – particularly regarding the VIP box revenue deal, which could impact the salary cap.
