SEC coach vouches for playmaking receiver to be drafted by Patriots
The New England Patriots need playmakers on offense, and one 2025 NFL draft prospect is being heavily praised as a player who could pair well with quarterback Drake Maye.
When speaking with NESN's Sean T. McGuire, Missouri head coach Eliah Drinkwitz threw Tigers wide receiver Luther Burden III in the mix of potential rookie receivers that could help the Patriots in a big way.
“He would be Drake Maye’s best friend,” Drinkwitz said. “I think he makes a ton of sense for the Patriots.”
Burden recorded 61 catches for 676 yards and six touchdowns for a Tigers offense that struggled last season. He's only one year removed from a breakout 2023 season, when he had 86 catches for 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns. He was also a First-Team All-SEC player in the last two seasons.
Burden's speed and playmaking abilities with the ball in his hands make him an intriguing wide receiver prospect for a team like New England.
Their plan should be all about surrounding Maye with as much offensive talent as possible, and considering the way free agency went on offense, they have plenty of work to do in the draft.
Perhaps it all starts with selecting Burden.
