Despite actually leading his team to beat them in March Madness, head coach Sean Miller will leave Xavier to take over for Rodney Terry at Texas.
Miller has long, established ties to Xavier men's basketball and its fanbase. He began working there as an assistant coach more than two decades ago in 2001 until he was promoted to become their head coach in 2004.
While he did eventually leave to coach at Arizona from 2009 until 2021, Miller was the subject of a corruption scandal that led to an investigation about illegally paying players to play at his school.
He was later fired by the university and forced to vacate wins from his time with the Wildcats. It didn't take long for him to find a new gig when he returned to Xavier, where he began his collegiate career as a head coach.
Miller led Xavier back to the NCAA tournament during his first year of his second stint with Xavier, eventually losing to the Texas Longhorns in the Sweet 16 in 2023.
He helped lead them back to the tournament again this season, this time defeating Texas in their first game before eventually falling to Illinois.
But within just a few days, he had agreed to become the next men's basketball head coach at Texas.
Changed twitter handle to make sure Sean Miller can't get @UTCoachMiller
— Clay Manship (@UTCoachMiller) March 23, 2025
This did not sit well with some Xavier fans, though, who began retaliation with a little prank.
One social media user changed their handle on X to @UTCoachMiller and pretty soon, others followed suit as well.
Another plot twist in the Miller→ Texas thing:

Xavier burners took every single twitter username that Sean could've used & made him just go with the double underscore😂😂😂
CBB pettiness is UNMATCHED https://t.co/T2cXG4UQqBpic.twitter.com/KOf9MvXVxz
By the time Miller chose a new username to represent his new affiliation with Texas, an army of fans had made sure there was nothing usable available.
The new Texas hire settled on @CoachMiller__ (with multiple underscores) which is less than ideal and objectively pretty funny.
