Seahawks still want to add a fullback to their roster

The Seattle Seahawks were expected to add a fullback to their roster in free agency earlier this offseason. Head coach Mike Macdonald appointed Klint Kubiak as his new offensive coordinator and play caller. Kubiak routinely utilized a fullback in the same role with the New Orleans Saints last season.

Kubiak used a fullback on 370-plus snaps in 2021, and 270-plus in 2024. Fullback has been a staple of the Kubiak offense. Furthermore, the Seahawks clearly plan to transition to a run-heavier offense in 2025 after dumping gunslinger quarterback Geno Smith, and wide receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

Despite that, the Seahawks have yet to acquire a fullback this offseason. Making a recent appearance on Seattle Sports Radio with Bob Stelton and Dave Wyman, Schneider recently confirmed the Seahawks still plan to add a fullback to the roster, either via free agency or the 2025 NFL draft.

The Seahawks were momentarily linked to Kyle Jusczyk following his release from the San Francisco 49ers. Kubiak previously coached Jusczyk in San Francisco. He ultimately re-signed with the 49ers on a cheaper deal.

Acquiring a fullback in free agency or via the 2025 NFL draft would help smoothen Seattle's transition on offense while making new play-caller Kubiak more comfortable.
