The Seattle Seahawks are not done making free agent moves at the quarterback position, it seems. They found their starter in Sam Darnold earlier this offseason, and now they've added a familiar face into the mix. According to reports from NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Seahawks have signed quarterback Drew Lock.
Schultz is reporting Lock will backup Sam Howell.

After two seasons (2022-2023) being Seattle's primary backup, Lock signed a one-year deal with the New York Giants. Eventually, after Daniel Jones was released and backup Tommy DeVito was injured, Lock took the reigns in the Big Apple from Week 13 to the conclusion of the season, with the exception of Week 15. During his five games as the Giants' starter, Lock accounted for a 1-4 record with six touchdown passes and five interceptions.
Of those six touchdown passes, four of them came during New York's 45-33 upset victory over the Indianapolis Colts - Lock's only win with the Giants.
It is interesting Lock is already being named as a backup to Sam Howell, which would make him a third-stringer for the moment. However, I find it difficult to believe the Seahawks will end up rostering both backups. To me this screams "training camp/preseason backup quarterback battle." General manager John Schneider clearly likes both players, as he traded assets to acquire both during their first stints with the team.
During his two years with the Seahawks, Lock had a record of 1-1, but the victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football is one the 12th Man will treasure forever.
