Jacy Severance fired a four-hit shutout Thursday, pitching the Watkins Memorial softball team to a 5-0 victory at Olentangy Orange.
Severance struck out one, and shortstop Grace Whitman made seven putouts and two assists behind her for the Warriors (2-1). Gracie Gerhardt hit a two-run single in the first inning, scoring Kylie Trouten and Alli Langwasser, and Kendal Tellings added two hits and a run and Carlie Taggart and Langwasser a double and an RBI apiece.
Johnstown drops road game
Abigail Wood recorded two hits and two runs and Reese Lyons two hits and two RBIs for Johnstown in a 15-10 loss at Highland.
Addy Zak and Brooklyn Wood each doubled with Zak driving in a run and Wood scoring two. Jenna Hochanadel tripled and scored a run, and Addy Hall added a hit, a run and an RBI for the Johnnies (1-2).

Martindale wins pair
Troy Martindale swept the hurdles events for the host Lakewood boys during a meet against Licking Valley and Sheridan.
Martindale won the 110 hurdles (16.14) and 300 hurdles (43.34). Teammates Derrick Norwood in the 200 (23.74) and Braylon Brooks in the 400 (54.34) also were individual winners.
Valley’s Hunter White won the shot put (45 feet, 7 inches).
In the girls meet, Valley’s Allison Osborn swept the shot (31-3.5) and discus (94-8). Teammates Isabella Reynard in the 200 (29.14) and Ally Conaway in the pole vault (8-6) also were individual winners.
Lakewood’s Jaylie Maas won the 100 (13.14) and high jump (4-8). Teammate Josie Lynch won the 400 (1:06.54).

Newark drops home match
Kahne Pastorius recorded 13 kills and six blocks for Newark in a loss to visiting Gahanna, 25-15, 26-28, 25-17, 25-20.
Miles Drake added 24 assists, and five aces, Te’shaun Brown seven kills and 13 digs and Adrian Taylor four kills and four aces for the Wildcats (2-4).
