Inter Milan reportedly believe that Marseille winger Luis Henrique can become “the new Maicon” if they sign him.
This according to today’s print edition of Italian newspaper Il Giorno, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan are reportedly in talks to sign Marseille winger Luis Henrique.
There is no lack of competition for the 23-year-old’s signature.
The likes of Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, and particularly Bayern Munich are also keen to sign Henrique.
But Inter are moving fast. They aim to wrap up the deal for Henrique long before the Club World Cup transfer window opens at the start of June.
Report – Inter Milan Believes Luis Henrique Can Be “The Next Maicon”
And Inter have a clear plan for Luis Henrique.
The Brazilian may be a player who’s spent the bulk of his career playing as an attacking winger.
But this season under Roberto De Zerbi, Henrique has played as more of a wingback.
And Henrique has really thrived in that role. He has found his best form yet marauding up and down the flank.
Moreover, Henrique has shown the versatility to play on either the left or the right flank.
Therefore, Inter Milan see the 23-year-old as an ideal backup – and eventual replacement – for Denzel Dumfries at right-wingback.
Moreover, Il Giorno note, there is a particular parallel.
Former attacking right-back Maicon is another player who Inter signed from a French team, in the form of Monaco.
Maicon was 25 years of age when he arrived at Inter. And he too is Brazilian.
Therefore, there could be a similar impact from Luis Henrique.
