Inter Milan are ready to make Thomas Berenbruch and Alessandro Calligaris pillars of their newly-formed Under-23 team next season.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan will have an Under-23 team starting from next season.
The Nerazzurri have not founded a team in that age group up to now. But they are ready to follow the lead of Juventus and AC Milan, who have enjoyed success with their Next Gen and Futuro sides respectively.
Inter’s Under-23 team will begin in Serie C at the start of next campaign.
Inter Milan Make Thomas Berenbruch & Alessandro Calligaris Pillars Of New U23 Team
Naturally, Inter Milan are starting to plan out the squad for their new Under-23 team.
And of course, a key part of those plans will be offering players a pathway from the lower-age youth teams, and in particular the Under-19 or Primavera side.
There are two players in particular who Inter are already planning to put in as pillars of their Under-23 team.
Firstly, there is midfielder Thomas Berenbruch.
The 19-year-old has been one of the shining lights of Inter’s Primavera team this season. Moreover, he has frequently made senior matchday squads, and came off the bench against AC Milan this week.
Therefore, Berenbruch is certainly ready to make the step up.
Meanwhile, in goal, Inter will put their trust in Alessandro Calligaris to be the first-choice keeper for the Under-23 team.
To this end, Tuttosport report, Inter have handed new long-term deals to both Berenbruch and Calligaris. Both have extended their contracts until the end of June 2029.
