Raphael Guerreiro and Leon Goretzka are major fitness doubts for Bayern Munich against Inter Milan in the Champions League.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Bayern Munich host Inter Milan in the Champions League in a little under a week’s time.
And Bayern coach Vincent Kompany will have some massive injury issues to deal with.
The German giants lost the likes of Alphonso Davies and Dayot Upamecano to knee injuries during the international break.
That deprives Bayern of two of their first-choice back four.
Then, Japanese international Hiroki Ito joined those players on the sidelines.
That has further deprived Kompany of defensive options. Ito has played both at centre-back and full-back for Bayern this season.
Guerreiro & Goretzka Doubts For Bayern Ahead Of Inter Champions League Clash
And things have only gone from bad to worse for Bayern.
Yesterday, former Borussia Dortmund full-back Raphael Guerreiro pulled out of training.
Therefore, there is significant doubt that the 31-year-old Portuguese international will be fit for next Wednesday’s Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Inter Milan.
With all of Davies, Ito, and Guerreiro absent, Kompany would have little choice but to play Josip Stanisic out of position against Inter.
Then, there is another injury issue in midfield for Bayern, reports the Gazzetta.
It is very doubtful that former Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka will be ready to return against Inter, having been forced off at halftime in a win over St. Pauli over the weekend.
