MLB.com's first in-season starting pitcher power rankings of 2025 rank the Cincinnati Reds' Hunter Greene at the top of the list.
Greene is followed by the Seattle Mariners' Logan Gilbert, the Pittsburgh Pirates' Paul Skenes, the Detroit Tigers' Tarik Skubal, the San Francisco Giants' Logan Webb, the Houston Astros' Framber Valdez, the Philadelphia Phillies' Zack Wheeler, the Kansas City Royals' Cole Ragans, the Chicago Cubs' Shota Imanaga and the Atlanta Braves' Spencer Schwellenbach.
"Eight years after the Reds made him the No. 2 pick in the Draft out of high school, it feels like the 25-year-old Greene has fully arrived as the elite force that has long been promised," Andrew Simon wrote. "So far in 2025, he seems to have found another level."
After Greene pitched 8 2/3 shutout innings against the Giants earlier this week, manager Terry Francona told him he wanted to let him pursue a complete game, and added, "That was f------ awesome."
In Greene's second start of the season, he became the fastest Red to reach 500 career strikeouts.
