Real Madrid have set a new record for their highest-ever ticket price, charging a minimum of €125 to fans hoping to attend this month’s game against Arsenal.

Marca report that Real Madrid are set to break their all-time record for ticket prices for the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals against Arsenal.

Real have set prices in their fourth tier at €125, with tickets in the lowest tier costing €450.

The club only charged €115 and €325 for the same seats against Manchester City and Atletico Madrid, and their most expensive games last season only hit a maximum of €445.

The good news for Arsenal fans attending the game is that Real Madrid don’t get to set such high prices for the away fans.

UEFA have a cap of €60 for visiting supporters in the Champions League, which is set to be further reduced to €50 next season.

That’s meant to be a cap, rather than a target, but obviously the reality is that most clubs charge the full €60 every time.

On the one hand, it’s nice to see that it’s not just Arsenal fans excited for these huge Champions League ties. A game against Arsenal is evidently viewed as just as significant right now.

On the other, it’s a shame that ticket prices continue to snowball to such an extent with every passing season. The away ticket caps have been very welcome, but home fans across Europe continue to see the cost of attendance growing more and more.
