Rangers sign top prospect Gabe Perreault to entry-level deal

The Rangers have signed top prospect Gabe Perreault to a three-year, entry-level contract, the team announced on Monday.

Perreault's sophomore season with Boston College came to an end on Sunday night with a loss to Denver in the NCAA Regional Finals, and according to Mollie Walker of the NY Post, he could make his NHL debut as soon as Wednesday against the Minnesota Wild.

The 19-year-old forward has long been viewed as one of the biggest steals in the 2023 draft, after he somehow fell to the Blueshirts as the 23rd overall pick.

He quickly rose through the ranks, establishing himself not only as the top prospect in the organization, but also one of the best playmaking wingers in all of college hockey as a teenager.

Perreault had a bit of a quieter sophomore campaign, but he still finished second on Boston College with 48 points in 37 games. He also helped Team USA take home back-to-back gold medals at the World Juniors each of the past two years, producing six goals and 14 assists across 14 tournament games.

The youngster would be joining the Rangers (77 points) at the perfect time, as they've been struggling of late. But they still find themselves tied with the Montreal Canadiens for the second Eastern Conference Wild Card spot with just eight games left.
