UConn freshman goaltender Callum Tung has signed a three-year, entry level contract with the New York Rangers, the team announced Tuesday.
Tung was entrusted in net during the Huskies’ NCAA Tournament run, in which they defeated Quinnipiac 4-1 and lost to Penn State, 3-2, in an overtime heartbreaker in the regional final on Sunday.
The freshman went 10-4-1 with a .933 save percentage and a 2.01 goals against average on the season, and was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie team. He split time with junior Tyler Muszelik during the regular season.
UConn fans will be able to see Tung in action in Hartford, as he signed an Amateur Tryout Agreement with the Wolf Pack, the Rangers’ AHL affiliate, for the remainder of the season.
Tung’s contract with the NHL club begins in the 2025-26 season.
