Philpott to fight in co-main event at PFL Belfast
Alan Philpott says "there's no place like home" after being announced to fight in the co-main event at the PFL Europe fight night in Belfast on 10 May.
Philpott, whose opponent is yet to be announced, will fight on the same card as Paul Hughes at SSE Arena.
The 32-year-old from Ballymena has a professional record of 21-16 and last fought in February, when he defeated Tomoya Hirakawa in Australia.
After training in Ballymena alongside Norman Parke, Greg Loughran and the UFC's Rhys McKee, Philpott moved to Liverpool to work with Dean Garnett and has spent the last number of years in Australia.
"Walking out in Belfast on the MMA stage is a dream come true," said Philpott, whose most high-profile victory came against the UFC's Nathaniel Wood in 2016.
"You can expect the performance of my life going into this fight. It's been 11 years since I fought back home, so to get an opportunity to co-main at SSE Arena, that's a dream come true."
Hughes, whose opponent is also still to be announced, narrowly lost a majority decision to lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov in Dubai in February.
