Philadelphia Eagles hire Georgia offensive assistant
The Philadelphia Eagles have added another Georgia Bulldog to their franchise. Georgia assistant quarterback coach Montgomery VanGorder will join the Eagles as an offensive assistant, per CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz.
Montgomery, son of legendary Georgia defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder, has coached for the Georgia Bulldogs since the 2019 season, from quality control to the assistant quarterbacks coach position. He was a part of the staff that won back-to-back national championships with walk-on Stetson Bennett.
He's also been a crucial part of the quarterback recruiting process for the Georgia Bulldogs, playing a hand in the team signing quarterback Ryan Montgomery and getting a commitment from five-star Jared Curtis (before he decommitted).
VanGorder's coaching career started right after his playing days, when he was a quarterback under Brian Kelly at Notre Dame before transferring to Youngstown State.
Georgia is currently in a major transition at quarterback. After starter Carson Beck transferred to the Miami Hurricanes, the Bulldogs have to decide on how will start in 2025. Sugar Bowl starter Gunner Stockton and redshirt freshman Ryan Puglisi are UGA's two top candidates.
